As part of the new conference structure, we are pleased to announce a variety of optional tech and wine tours on Thursday 7 May 2020.

Places are strictly limited and are offered on a first come, first served basis exclusively to conference delegates via the conference registration form. We recommend booking early to ensure you don’t miss out.

The tours will provide you with inspiration and examples to take back to your own services, businesses and organisations.

The Ear Science Institute
Ear Science Institute Australia is a world renowned research Institute. We provide expert ear and hearing care, new research discoveries, education for the medical community, and much-needed community support. Ear Science Institute Australia owns Lions Hearing Clinics, a comprehensive hearing service with 14 clinics in WA, as well as free hearing screening online. As part of its global impact, Ear Science works with the World Health Organization as a Collaborating Centre for Ear and Hearing Care, treating and preventing hearing loss for almost 2 billion people.

During your technical tour, you will learn about:

  • The latest in ear and hearing research, including how the translational research (from laboratory to clinic) can change the future of audiology
  • The scope of care we provide to clients, from communication strategies, to assistive devices, to hearing aids and cochlear implants
  • Our surgical training laboratory, and
  • How our teams are maximising cochlear implant outcomes for patients through exciting clinical research

The Telethon Kids Institute
The Telethon Kids Institute is an independent not-for-profit, non-government organisation, and one of the largest and most successful medical research institutes in Australia. With a dedicated and diverse team of more than 750 staff and students, their vision is simple – happy healthy kids. The Institute has created a bold blueprint bringing together researchers, community, practitioners, policy makers and funders who share the vision to improve the health and development of children through excellence in research.

Join us for a tour through the new state-of-the-art facility within the Perth Children’s Hospital, and meet with researchers to find out about our latest research in:

  • Cultural governance in Aboriginal ear health research
  • Strategies to facilitate embedding research into clinical services (and clinical service into research) and why that is important
  • Innovative bench-to-bedside treatments to reduce and prevent middle ear disease
  • Preventing hearing loss caused by congenital cytomegalovirus
  • Improving outcomes for cochlear implant recipients

Telethon Speech & Hearing
Telethon Speech & Hearing is a proud Western Australian success story and has been supporting the WA community for over 50 years. The only one of its kind in Australia, TSH brings together a range of interconnected service delivery models for children with a hearing loss and/or speech difficulties to provide holistic support for them and their families. They do this as an Independent School, NDIS provider, not-for-profit service provider and a leader in Ear Health surveillance and intervention for both children and adults.

When you visit TSH you will learn about:

  • On-site early intervention and school-based support programs for children with a hearing loss
  • Rural and remote ear health programs -supporting communities across WA
  • Early intervention speech and language programs for children aged 2-9
  • Paediatric audiology and speech pathology clinics for children of all ages
  • Family and trans-disciplinary approach with input from our team of teachers, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and audiologists

WINE TOURS

World-class wineries, breweries, and handcrafted wares are just a few things you will experience just 25 minutes from Perth. Come along and enjoy a beautiful day of exploring the vineyards and surrounds of the Swan Valley. You will enjoy a relaxed day with an international thought leader in a relaxed environment. As they each explore with you, learn from their wisdom in an unstructured and relaxed environment.
